Hey, what's up? I attempted to check & adjust the TPS on my Trooper today following instructions from the "Archives". When I unplugged the TPS, I noticed on the plug side that there is no black wire. The center wire is blue with a red stripe down it's length. On one end of the plug the wire is blue with a yellow stripe & the other side is blue with a white stripe down it's length & one red band that goes around...like a ring. Following the instructions using my digital ohm meter, I checked every possible combo with the red & black leads & never came up with a reading of 5 volts. No matter which wires I put the meter leads on, the only readings I got were 0 or 11.4. Anyone know which of the colored wires is the ground? Also, for those of you who remember the demon that's haunting my truck.....would disconnecting the TPS cause diagnostic codes to come up on the dash? Even after I plugged the TPS back together, codes 25 (air vacuum switching valve) & 33 (fuel injector circuit). I'll be as clear as possible. Both the rubber boot on the TPS plug & the rubber boot on the fuel inj. wiring (closest to the TPS) both seemed a tad melted. Any thoughts...........TY

The problem is that you are trying to use a procedure for the 2.8 engine (Chevy, GM) on a 2.6 (Isuzu). The only thing that the two engines have in common is the name one the vehicle in which they are installed.

Are you saying then that to adjust the TPS, I don't need any type of ohm meter?

I think Jim's point was more that if you're following the instructions for the 2.8, you're already in the wrong ballpark. You'll want to find the directions for testing/adjusting the TPS for the 2.6. There is no guarantee, and relatively little likelihood I'd wager, that the two processes are the same. You'll almost certainly need your meter to get it set right, but you'll have to find out just how to go about it with your particular set-up. It's kind of like trying to bake cookies with a cake recipe. They're related, but not really the same thing.

I should have been clearer. Not only are the engines totally different, but also the entire engine wiring harness. The engines use two totally different technologies for fuel intake. Even many of the CEL codes are totally different.

OK. Thanks for straightening me out on the wiring thing. I was reading the wrong info. So now that I have my TPS loose, what's next? Also, regarding the 2 diag. codes that are coming up...anyone have to deal with these 2 issues in the past & perhaps can direct me as to what to look for?

Hey, what's up? OK, I have removed the EGR valve to clean it & the ports. While it's off, I see the TPS is easier to access. I have the 2 screws loose & Nothing comes up on "Search". Could someone please give me a play by play as to the proper way to adjust the TPS. I even bought a new meter. Also, any help with diag. codes 25 & 33. Thank you in advance.
