I was on here a while back complaining about my 94 pickup hesitating and running rough after I put a rebuilt head on. Well I fixed that problem a few months ago, turned out it was the #1 fuel injector. It tested out fine and was clicking like an operating fuel injector, but I guess it was clogged or something. Anyway I replaced all four and what a difference. I would suggest anyone that has injectors with a lot of miles on them to think about replacing them. Throttle response is much better and idle is a lot smoother. Haven't seen a big difference in mpg though. I was suprised by how easy they are to change and it's not all that expensive if you buy remanufactured injectors.
I put in EB's 268 torkr cam and steel chain kit also. Can't say enough about the new stick. It really quieted down that valve clatter and lugs slow and low much better now. Performance characteristics are just as he describes in ad, I'm very impressed.
I do have one problem though. I think I tightened the tensioner too much when installing the steel rail chain kit. I have heard other people talk about the same symptoms. It occurs mostly when deaccelerating at about 2000rpm with my foot lightly on the gas. It sounds like a clicking coming from the engine and it doesn't sound like the valves. I think the tensioner is not getting all the slack out and the chain is slapping around. If I bring the rpms up or completely let off it goes away. Again, it is not a constant noise at all rpms in all gears. It sounds like a bad rod bearing, but I think that would be a more constant sound.
Just wondering what problems this could cause, like eating through the timing cover or breaking the chain. Other than the little bit of noise it's running great and I've put about 5,000 mi. on her since doing the work.
