Getting the Wheeling Fever
It has come time to either replace or rebuild the tranny and I'm wondering if there is an upgrade from the regular stock 5 speed trans. I'm only running 31x10.50 and sadly it's a pavement princess for now but it does have big dreams of some day doing some serious mud slinging. It's an '86 pretty much stock.

The R-151 Turbo tranny would be an upgrade for you. Finding one and usually paying for one is much harder tho.
Getting what you have rebuilt would probably be quickest and easiest.

If you have a W56 trans, Marlin http://www.marlincrawler.com sells a W56-HD. He changes the input/output 8 roller, roller bearings to 16 roller, roller bearings.

I have been running one for 6 months and I plan to get another one when I get the new runner.

85 4Runner frame, 5" Marlin springs, 5:29 ARB HP front. Work in progress - Always!
