Bent Wrangler YJ frame #627638 07/18/05 01:56 AM

95 Wrangler YJ took on a light post. Bumper and tube behind it bent in a "V". Grill and hood damaged. Ends of frame ahead of front cross member are bent in. Can these be cut off and new ends (with tube) welded on? If so, where can i find them? Or do I need to take the jeep to a frame shop and have the ends straightened?

Thanks
Mike B

The frame shop is your best bet, more than likely the frame is bent in more than that place.

Body Damage is Cool
I'd have to agree with Sunder on this one.

Take it to a frame shop, have them pop your body loose and tweak your frame to factory measurements.

My 91 had front and rear collisions in it's life, one each were really bad. Each times, I had a regular shop do everything they could to get the body to look like it hadn't been wrecked, and get the frame generally true, then let the frame shop do their stuff. Driving to the frame shop was a learning experience. Everything felt crooked, then from the frame shop, wow, like a new frame. If you start noticing that it seems to be going crooked again, have it retweaked after 6-12 months, depending on how bad it is messed up.

Just my $0.02

while it sucks that your rig is screwed, you should always aim for the middle like that. if you had hit with a front tire you would have driven your front driveshaft through your xfer case, cracked the trans and had to play at the frame shop as well. sucks about your ride, good luck with it.
