My 2001 3.4L donor truck has two cats, do they all have two? I thought just the California models had two but this truck is from West Virginia.

I believe they all do from '01 and newer.

Yes, I know this for sure because I did a research on the purchase of the TRD header for my 3.4L V6. All '01 model or later have two cats.

I didn't know they had two cats until I looked under my truck.

Why do they have two cats and if you installed a new muffler system what would happen if you used just one.

That's what I'm wondering too. I'm worried I'll get a CEL if I get rid of one. I'm thinking the ECU may be very sensitive on the 2nd O2 sensor and detect the missing cat.
