Getting the Wheeling Fever
I removed the stripes from the tailgate of my truck yesterday. It looks better even though you can see the mismatched paint. For those of you that have removed the stickers, did the covered paint weather to match or will it always be apparent?

Thanks

get some polishing wax and cut the paint with a mechanical buffer. this is how we got the "Racing" stripes off my buddy's Taurus SHO when he bought it.

Roll Me Over
Depends on the age of your truck, chances are it wont fade to match anytime soon. The best thing to do is polish the old paint. If you don't want to go with a power buffer, you can hand polish it using Zymol car polish. I like to use 2-3 coats(depending on how faded the paint is), and then use 2-3 coats of a good carnuba wax like Mother's after, to protect the polish.

A good store should have some paint deoxidizer; sometimes this comes in a waxing kit. Park in the shade, load up the cooler, and order pizza.
