I am having the exact same problem with my brakes. The only thing I've have time to do with it was to completely flush the brake fluid, but that didn't help. I've considered replacing the MC, but haven't been able to get to it yet. Maybe I'll have some free time this weekend.
If you find something, please post.

I'm having the exact same problem, and I've replaced the brake booster and the master cylinder w/o luck. Also, the pedal assembly is not cracked/torn. A mechanic friend of mine mentioned it likely is the front caliper pistons binding in my case. The pistons are likely worn and rocking back and forth in the cylinders a bit and binding. Not sure how if it will apply to you, but it's another suggestion. When my brakes bind, the pedal kinda "pops" suddenly once I've applied enough pressure to get passed the bind, and I think there's a noise coming from the front axle.

I think your problem and mine are not related, because I feel like I could exacerbate the problem by not pressing straight down on the pedal, but pushing it a little to the side. This had me thinking at first that it must be in the linkage or pivot of the pedal itself, but I could never find it. So, I went ahead and replaced the MC. I my not be able to drive the truck, but at least it's not binding any more!!!

Well, after two months of tinkering and bleeding and things improving to the point where I had some braking, I finally drove it to a mechanic. Turns out my rebuilt master cylinder was bad.
The impetus for this was that my step-sons Explorer blew a head-gasket, so he needed something to drive.
Now that he's driving the toyota, he reported the discovery of a dead baby mouse on the floor board! I'm worried that where there is one dead baby mouse, there must be more. I've heard once you get dead-baby-mouse smell in the heating system, it will never come out. Is it worth tearing everything apart to get at the heater core to make sure we remove the rodent infestation? Or wait until there is a smell (at which point we may not be able to remove it)? Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks!
