Strange noise in isuzu trooper diesel #630522 07/27/05 04:50 AM

Need a Spot

about 3 weeks ago the 1986 isuzu trooper diesel started making some strange "grinding" type sounds at around 2000 rpms and higher. The sound can be described as either a metalic type of grinding or even chirping at times. The noise does not sound as if it is coming from the engine. My best guess would be the power steering pump. has anyone else had a similar problem?
