I replaced core on my 86 years ago and it was rocket science/brain surgery blindfolded. On the plus side I got to take half the heater housing apart, work upside down, deal with impossible to reach hoses and a miriad of brittle hard to get nylon parts. At least it onlly cost 224.00!What do I have to look forward to on my 93?

Body Damage is Cool
ABOUT THE SAME AS THE 86 throwing things and pushing and pulling , except the dash has to come out, don,t even think of replacing the core order the entire heater box assy, it is only about 20.00 or so diff than just the core , an dwill save a few headaches , and you get all the little nitemares new in a box, saves a bunch of time , and by the way any 92-97 trooper or rodeo heater box will fit as long as they are both v6,s 4cyl rodeo won,t fit they all have diff, pt no,s but they are interchangable. be prepared for at least a half day of fussing with it Jerry

Need a Spot
Hi Jerry, I also broke the brittle heater core plastic fittings on my 94 V6 and need to replace it. Did you have to disconnect the A/C lines at all? I really want to avoid that if possible.

IT IS a lot easier if you can discharge the a.c and then recharge but if you remove the blower motor housing and then take the nuts off of the mtng studs that hold the ac evap, to the firewall and then pull the evap back ward toward the seats and then gently move it to the right it will move about an inch and then you should be able to snake the heater core housing out ,, after the dash board and the surrounding plastic trim is remove , also remove all the controls for the a.c. and heater it will give you a bit more room and you willneed all you can get , they have to be disconnected from the htr box anyway , Jerry
