blower motor resistor/relay/switch trouble #630689 07/27/05 11:27 PM

New to the forum here so try to bear with me...have a '97 Rodeo/Passport and the blower (vent, a/c, heat, etc.) crapped out on me a couple months ago. It started out only working in the #4 position but has since stopped even at that speed. I have been reading over past posts and it seems to be an issue with the resistor, relay or the switch. I had gotten a new motor and tested it by plugging it in and it still did not turn, thus why I'm thinking it's not a problem with the motor. Where exactly do I find these parts and how do I test them? Also, if it turns out one of these components is faulty, where would I look to find a replacement?

Okay, figured out it's just the resistor. So where do I find a replacement?? Any ideas?

I've usually found things like these are a dealer only item. Chances are your dealer would have to order it for you.. if that's the case you might want to give St. Charles Isuzu a call. They can mail it to you directly at prices that beat all other dealers (from my experience).

I checked other places on the net and couldn't find a part for you. I was having problems with my unit as well. It may be my control assembly. If you find a place better than the dealer for your part please respond back to this ... and I'll follow your lead!

i found mine by trial and error. first i replaced the blown fuse and promptly blew it again. then i pulled the fan motor out and found it had seized up from frozen condensation in it. this seems to have burned out one of the circuits on the resistor. i completely disassembled the fan, lubed it and put it back together, not really too hard. course, the wife was ticked i did it on the kitchen table while she was putting out cookies to cool. apparently too many cookies diappeared while the (oops, off topic)when i pulled the resistor out, i could see one of the circuits was broken. it ran ok on all speeds except #3; but switching from 2 to 4 blew a fuse every time. i took the glove box out and that made the whol thing quite simple. yes it is dealer item only and yes st. charles is the place to go.
