Hey guys, well this week something funny started happening with my truck. I will be driving down the road, and if i let it get into the RPM zone I stated in my title, it will occasionally lurch on my like it is going to stall. It doesn't matter if I am going 25mph or 75mph in fifth, if I am in this zone it will do it. I thought it was the A/C compressor kicikng in for awhile, but it did it to me yesterday with the A/C off. I can't even turn the A/C on today as it will completety stall if I drop below 1800. My idler pulley recently seized, could this be a sign of the compressor pulley about to seize too?

Find someone to help you who can set at the wheel and manipulate the controls as you watch the A/C compressor with the hood open.
It should be obvious if the compressor isn't turning when you activate the switch.

I'll try that and see by having them rev into range and then post back.

I forgot to mention that occasionally when this happens the check engine light will come on then go out a few minutes later. The Troop has started running rough also in the last few days as the attempted stalls have increased. I am going to try out what Jim mentioned tomorrow and see what I can see.

Just a thought here, but, did you wash the engine compartment lately? Maybe some water is still in the wire harness connectors? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

Ok, had my wife give it some gas as I watched the motor and everything seemed normal besides it still running rough. The A/C compressor just acted like it should, kicking on once it got past idle and then stopping again below it. I did notice that there is a vaccum line on the top drivers side of the motor that goes into that vacuum tank by the radiator. The line that went into the "purge" section of that vacuum tank was hanging off. I pushed it back in but it barely stays there by itself, could this be causing the problem? The other end looks like it runs to the intake manifold...
