that just doesn't even sound right. 150 to a 1/4 tank. I'd start thinking your Gauge is going bad.

Don't plan any immediate trips more than 10 miles that won't take you close to a gas station.....

That sounds about right. If it's tuned up right you should be able to reach 220 miles before you need to fill er up. My truck has the same motor and reads full till around 50 miles, after 150 it drops pretty quickly. I usually fill up at 200 because the gauge reads empty but I still have 4 gallons left.Holds 17, I rarely get more than 13 in there. May need to put the jerry can in back and see how far it will really go before it actually goes dry.

That doesn't sound very good. I've been averaging around 20 mpg with my 88 with 32's and stock gearing. I get 23 on the highway. I just filled up yesterday and it was 225 miles on 11.63 gallons and I was still a little above 1/4 on the gauge. Sounds like you have an issue somewhere that is messing up your engine's efficiency. I have the Jardine 2-1/4" cat-back that is mandrel bent. Are you still running the stock cat to muffler pipe? That pipe necks down to under 1-3/4" at the bend. If you still have it, get a 2 or 2-1/4" pipe put on.

You fellas are running that 3.0 in first-gen 4Runners. Big difference... Red Chili 1 was a 1990 3.0 4Runner, and its mileage was WAY worse than yours. Heavier.

Good point on the post 88 weight. No back or sunroof makes her even lighter than stock. Wife loves riding topless!

It may be lighter, but i ran with either a soft top or no top, and doors without windows or no doors, and no tailgate, and the best i could get was 18mpg.
Throw everything back in? 23mpg.
There is SO much more wind drag with the roof off, it does accelerate faster tho (and chirp the tires on every turn...
