Any one know were the vacuum line on the top of the fuel pressure regulator goes? Any one know what would happen if that vacuum line had a hole in it?

It looks like the vacuum line to my fuel pressure regulator had a hole worn in it from rubbing on an edge of the firewall so I would like to replace it but it just goes back between the engine and the firewall and it seams like I would have to pull the engine to replace the line.

Not realy , it just goes on the intake manifold.
You can use any source for vacume from the intake, as long as you plug the one that has a hole right now in it.

It's not realy that hard to get to, you just have to use a mirror to see where it is.

Any one have a picture or diagram of that area of the back of the engine? I can't see any thing in there, let alone get my hand in there to replace the hose.

Go to the following WEB site:

http://www.slhondaparts.com

This is a Honda Dealer in San Leandro, Calif.

You can look up Rodeo parts/photos here. Honda Passport and Isuzu Rodeo are the same vehicle. Provide your yr/make/model, then click on Engine. Once in there, you'll see 2 selections for FI. One is called "ECGI System-Injectors Fr:9804" and the other "ECGI System-Injectors To:9803".

Here's a link to the "From 9804"

http://www.slhondaparts.com/browse....tCatalogId=50779+&ViewParts=true

This might help you determine what goes where.

You likely know this, but your vehicles date of mfg. is on the metal plate inside the drivers side door.

Thanks, the link Mike posted showed enough for me to figure out were it goes. Just went out and looked and I could get my fingers in there and feel were the hose conects to the back of the manifold but I'm really not sure if I would be able to get a hose back on there after I got the old one off.

Ok, so I got it replaced and the old one did have a hold in it. Ended up having my girlfriend do it cuz she has smaller hands. How snug does the hose have to fit? I replaced it with a 3/16th fuel hose instead of 3/16h vacuum hose cuz the fuel hose is thicker and stronger then vacuum hose, but to doesn't seam to be as tight a fit, just slides on but not real lose. But I don't think it would of been possible to get a tighter hose on there because there is just no room to push it on. Is there a downside to using fuel hose instead of vacuum hose?

Also if I had a leaky fuel pressure regulater how much fuel would be in the vacuum line? The old line seamed a bit damp with fuel, not much, but it did smell strongly of fuel.

What would it do if there was a hole in the vacuum line?

There is not suppose to be any fuel in the vacume line.
If there is than regulator is on it's way to go, but it's still not dead. If it would have a leak it would simply pump the fuel through the vacume line in to the intake & you would have a realy hard time starting & keeping it running.

a hole in the vacume line (depending on it's size) would give you erratick idle, stalling when applying break to stop etc.

and i wouldn't recomend using a fuel line for a vacume.
Vacume lines are ussualy a little smaler than the actual size they suppose to be (so they would fit snugly on the fittings). To put that vacume line (if your hands don't fit) use a long needle-nose plyers. Otherewise you will end up with the same problem you started out with, a vacume leak.

Just my $.02
