My buddy has a 90 hilux surf w/ manual trans, manual hubs (converted from add) and his front drive shaft spins when not in 4wd. Is this a t-case prob or is there a solenoid or something since its push button 4wd that we should check first. Are there any typical probs w/ these that i dont know of. thanks in advance

If it's a shift transfer case, and he just switched to manual locking hubs then while the T-Case shifter is in 2HI or N then the front driveshaft will turn freely. If it's in 4HI or 4LO and you can turn it by hand with the hubs locked then I would look at the hubs not engaging.

When my T-Case is in 2HI and the front hubs unlocked I can spin that front driveshaft until my arms fall off!

P.S I didn't think the 1990 Toyotas came with push button 4WD! Got a picture?

on my 88 before i had my frotn shaft hooked up the pinion on the tcase would spin when not in 4x4. i think it just has to do with the fact there is still some resistance. i could easly stop it with my hands and hold it in place. not a problem i would say.
