I noticed that toyota makes a rebuild kit for the
calipers.. Anyone rebuild on before? I just put
pads on the front and noticed that on one caliper
two of pistons would not move, and the other side
had one that took alot of force to just move it.
I actually had to put an old pad in there just so
it would work.
So, do I Rebuild them or go with an Autoparts
remanufactured one?

I'm assuming my calipers are beyond repair anyway..
The caliper they had stocked was a cheesy ONE
piston design that was 35 bucks.. Guess I'll have
them order the 4 piston design...

Toyota also offers remanufactured brake calipers. I think they are about $100 per caliper. That is a lot better than $200-300 for a new caliper.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I just bought a remanufactured one through AutoZone for $28.99. Found it on their website and brought in the printout to my local store. The price in their computer was $37. Showed them the printout and got it for the $29 .

The one of the pistons were frozen on mine as well. Rebuilding them is relatively cheap but I think spending the extra 20 bucks and saving the time it takes to rebuild em is well worth it.

Roll Me Over
If the place you went to said the caliper they had was one piston, run do not walk away from that place, they do not know WTF they are talking about. All 4x4's had four piston calipers. If you can, get the calipers with the four big pistons. Go to NAPA, stay away from the places that offer a "Lifetime Warranty", most of that stuff is junk. The warranty is not going to do you any good when you are in the middle of BFE and it decides to start leaking.

Need a Spot
Wondering about your problem? I may have the same issue. My front brakes are pretty much on all time I can barely turn the rotor w/ the tires off. I have replaced the calipers w/ another set I had in the garage. Could my brake "freeze" be caused from two sets of bad calipers or do I have another problem. Also noticed uneven pad wear, but I am assuming that could be from my old calipers. Anything sound familar?

If they charge for a core, it's not new, it's a rebuilt unit.

One piston calipers are 2wd. Have them check the 4wd listing.
