Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm looking for information on the 4.0 swap from a 92 cherokee into my 85 CJ.

I've read a great lot of information on CJoffroad.com but most of the wiring stuff they show is for YJ's. Can anyone that has done this swap tell me what five wires are needed to get this thing running?

I have never done this swap but all it should need is power, ground, TPS, Crank and Cam position sensor, IAC motor, O2 sensor, MAP sensor, and Alternator wiring. It should be all in the wirgn diagram. Study it well and remove things you won't need or be using.

It's nice having EFI. I have never set my points, set my timing, set my dwell, set my idle speed, set my idle mixture, flooded my jeep trying to get it to start in cold whether, failed smog, .... ETC.

If you know the technology, it is far better to run EFI than the old school stuff.

Then again if you just don't know the new stuff, it's better to stick with what you know...

I'm sure you and BJ could tune up an older CJ or even just an old ford truck faster than I can...

Still not sure what the "sb" stands for but I think I get what you're saying.

The reason for the Jeep 4.0 is because it's basically the same as the 258 so I can use the same mounts, tranny, etc. The drawbacks so far have been that I have to use a few aftermarket things to get it runnin from a carb to a fuel injected engine. Otherwise, it's fine.
Oh yeah, the other drawback is wiring. There are many things you can do including use a $400+ harness from Hesco but I'm trying to avoid that.

When I'm done, I'll have a pretty well running CJ that's going to last for quite awhile.
