I'm finally getting to the point that I will need to trim the rear fenders for some extra room. (35" PJ's)
I was planning on doing a 2" trim untill I actually looked at it and realized just how close the gas door is to the fender lip.
SO what has everyone else done? (if any trimming) I'm also looking at fender flares to hide the cut but the name brands are way too much $$$ for me. Also looking for ideas for the front as well once trimmed how to fill the gap and so on. Any info will help thanks Thanks Jed

Mine is a 4runner, so things are quite a bit different out back, but the front may give you some idea of how much clearance you will get. Here's a link. Is this a 1st or 2nd gen pickup?

I wouldn't mind so me Fender flares for all 4. Technically to be "legal" I need them, but w/out them My truck gets very dirty just driving down the road; kicks up everything. So I'll be watching for some Flare ideas.

the tire under compression moves to the rear of the truck. keep that in mind. flares. lol. go pick up some garden edgeing and cut down the hose looking part and slide them on. 20.00 for like 20 of these flares. hold them on with one or two screws.

I'm planning to use some of the rubber flares from JCw on my 4Runner once I finish trimming the fenders.

hey bandit, what is that little tool called you used to measure out and draw where you were gonna cut? a protractor? where did you get it? There are four pieces to that: (1)Adjustable Square (Sears, ~$15) (2)Block of PVC (I had it lying around, unneeded) (3)Pencil (4)Electrical tape I used the block of PVC so the pencil would be rigid to the adjustable square, but you could do a pretty good job if you just wrapped tape around the pencil and "ruler" part of the adjustable square.

Thanks! I haven't personally used it, but I have read about it elsewhere and heard it's pretty good stuff. The best thing about it is it flexes out of the way when you rub up against stuff, rather than cracking or ripping off like some of the aftermarket fender flares.
