I have experienced a loss of power but no codes/engine light show up. I even disconnected the battery for a while but nothing changes. I checked the air filter and just about everything I can think of...any ideas? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

Check your fuses yet?
No power no blinkies.

Might also check to make sure the battery has a full charge while you're at it.

sorry--I am losing engine power (I should have mentioned that). For some reason after a long trip to NV (black Rock)this past week the truck doesn't have the pull it did when I left.

When's the last time the t'body or MAF were cleaned? Tuneup, that kind of thing.

not much to a tune up..just plugs/air filter right? The MAF was cleaned before I left. I don't think I have ever cleaned the T'body. please let me know more, you might be on to something.. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

Given your altitude and the usual route to NV, I'd wonder about the fuel/air issue. Only other thing I can think of outside of that and a fuel filter is that you might've gotten some bad fuel on your trip.

The ol' gal just might need an afternoon of some TLC; keep us posted!

Hey, hope this helps...but my 03 3.4L was doing the same..very hesitate out of the hole with bad lag.. I tried taking it to the shop, they could not find nothing..cleaned airfilter and and even pulled MAF out. Well come to find out it was the MAF sensor. I did not clean the little wires down in the thing. you have to have a extension on you cleaner.. Electric contact cleaner...It brought my truck right back. I was very suprised such a little piece could make such a difference, but it did...Good Luck

man it's amazing how many people have had that same problem with a dirty MAF sensor causing poor performance. Judging by how many people just in this forum alone have touched on the subject (including me), it is something that mechanics give little thought to but really needs to be paid attention to. I'd run some injector/fuel system cleaner in there, check the MAF one more time, clean that throttle body, and check the spark plugs, cause besides that, not too much else can go wrong without causing a code to be thrown at you.
Also, just as a side note, I'm beginning to wonder if having a K&N is what fouls these MAFs up with the oil they may make the intake ingest (possibly because of a supercharger sucking the air in?), and the extra dust that may be let in through the pinholes in the cotton weave. I cleaned my MAF and then checked it again two months later and it was dirty again! Maybe the K&N is the culprit in some of these MAF cases....

I agree, I put my K&N to the side a while back because I noticed that my MAF was dirty all the time. Truthfully I didn't notice a power gain when I did have my K&N. I did notice I was $50 lighter in my wallet. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />
Update: I did clean out my T'Bore, it had the remnants of the dirt/oil from the K&N all around it. That could have been part of the problem. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I used to drive from denver to Portland at least once a year and I was alway amazed at how much power I lost when I left sea level, and gained going. That could be what you are noticing. but that kinda depends on where you went in Nv, a lot of Nv is below sea level as I recall.
