Body Damage is Cool
I was brainstorming last night and a Katrina kit me! I needed a bearing removal tool for a specific pinion bearing used on the 86~95 models. I was short a lathe and a milling tool.....so I thought of a way to use a 2.25" bi-metal hole saw and a drill press to drill the main center hole and also to mill out 2 steps to clear the bearing profile. Randys sells a nice set-up for about 350....this costs about 10 for the separator and 15 for the hole saw. Bearing separators usually can't capture the bearing evenly all the way around....the end result has been, in my case, a distorted/bent/damaged separator. This took over 2 hours....nawing away at the metal....wearing it down. It's just kinda cool and I wanted to share.............

Sweet pattern Karl. I'm gonna guess and those look like the pattern of a Motive gear.....the ones that have the number "304" in the ring somewhere. Did you properly preload the carrier bearings?
oops....I just hijacked my own thread.

They were in a Yukon box so I'm not sure. the pinion had waxy goop on it I had to clean off if that means anything. and yep I preloaded the carrier bearing as per instructions(yours). looking at pictures sure helps, thanks

And now Back to the regularly scheduled Topic .......Karl
