That's pretty interesting. I know Lloyd is having his cryo treated right now hoping it will improve strength altough there's lots of discussion about that not working due what it does versus what's needed.

quoted from the above link...
"Smurfields are strong reliable Birfields that will withstand the most brutal of punishments, and are available for a realistic price. Stock Birfields are the weak link in the vehicles that use them and Smurfields are the solution. If you are going to invest in any one after-market modification, this is the one that will most improve your vehicles strength. The factory Toyota Birfield is disassembled, a ring is welded onto the bell, and a ôsecretö heat treating process improves the durability of the innards and the bell. The "Smurfield" does not lose any turning capabilities, and can be disassembled and reassembled at anytime afterward for cleaning and repacking. For maximum durability, the steering stops should be set to original specs. Extreme users or those in competitive situations, can feel free to move them in as far as prefered. Smurfields are the solution for Toyota Lancruisers and mini-trucks, Suzukis, and any vehicle that utilizes Birfields. Satisfied customers are conquering obstacles on the trails and in extreme competitions that were never possible with stock axles."

I think I may Smurf myself a set of those Smurfy birf's Just a reminder, he will have to be willing to develop a custom product for you only a handful of people will ever buy, that is a tough sell. I am working with someone now, and we might want to see where that goes first. There is no market for one supplier, let alone 2, so we should try to stick with one and support them if we can.

I agree I'll await your results and go from there. Besides the guy I'm talking about is in Canada and shipping to and fro would probably cost more.
