Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
I just pickup up a new 7.5 ADD dif with a lunchbox locker. I want to swap out the ADD tube with a non-ADD tube and shaft I have laying around. My question is, how do I get the intermediate shaft on the driver's side out of the ADD diff? I imagine there is a snap ring on the inboard side but the locker is there and I can't get at it without disassembling. My manual doesn't say anything about removal. I recall it may be possible to pull it out with a puller without removing the snap ring or c-clip or whatever is holding it in place. How do I get this thing out? Thanks

There is a snap ring holding it in place. You need a slide hammer or a puller to get it out. It takes a good bit of force to get it to come out. I had good luck using a dent puller and a fabbed tool (same idea of a slide hammer), two slides and it popped out.
