The V1FA transfer case used in Tacoma's and later model 4Runners is only driverside output as far as I know. What about Tundra's and T100's? Do they have the V1FA in passenger side output?

Yep, I have two gear driven T-cases, but I miss the smoothness of the chain driven cases and shift on the fly, etc., so the other day I read on one of these boards that the chain driven T-case found behind most older 3.0 Liter trucks are the weakest, the gear driven ones are in the middle, and the V1FA found behind the newer 3.4 Liters are the strongest because of the thickness of the chain.

So, based on what you say these T-cases will be found in the '96-'98 T100's with the 3.4L? Is that right?

I have never had a problem w/ the chain drive behind my 3.0. I think that they are just fine unless you are either crazy low geared or have crazy power. I see no reason to justify the hastle of a swap unless you blow them up regularly.
