Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
Good afternoon. Just wanted to drop a few lines and say hello to everyone. My name is JC. From Ky but living in NE TN now. I drive a 91 Trooper and am in the process of having the old 2.8 swapped out for a 3.4. I've been searching for related info and found a lot, spread all over different forums, on different sites. So far there seems to be more on this site. Does anyone have a compilation of info for this swap? I e-mailed one guy about it, but yet to get a response. So far I found a mechanic to swap them out, found about 5 engines (need to choose), have a small list of parts needed, and some notes of things to consider. I would love to hand the mechanic info for this to help him out in any way that I can. Or am I stepping over the line by doing that? Any advice from the troopguru's is appreciated. Thanks and it's good to see so many other fans of troopers out there.

First, welcome to the forum. I am sure that you will find the help you need here.
Some people's email may change from time to time, so if you don't get an answer, contact ED MC here by Private Message (PM). Ed has a very complete archive of nearly everything that has ever been written on this conversion.
I am going to move this thread to the Isuzu Talk forum since you aren't asking specific technical questions.
Good luck!!!

Send me a PM with your email address , I have all the 3.4 swap files , plus if you check out my write up on what I have done on my 4.3 I am in the process of finishing putting together there are a few things I have done a little difefrently I changed starters so I could put headers in , am ceramic metalic coating them myself , put in roller rockers , added an underdrive pulley , and all parts are pretty much new on a 1995 camaro engine.I even have the template for drilling and tapping the starter holes , although I did mine freehand , and it works great.

Depending on where in NE TN you're located, there are a few of us `Zu-Folk in and around that area. --- Let us know where you're at... maybe we could get together. thanks again. starting to feel welcomed around here...tis good. I'm in Kingsport, Church Hill area. I currently live in Church Hill, work in Rogersville. Planning to relocate to R-ville as soon as I get my truck running again. I would love to meet up with ya'll sometime. Shoot some pool, shoot some bull, have some beers (or water, whatever)? Barak, I have been reading all your posts on the wire about your swap and I am currently very jealous. It looks great so far, Have you had any luck dropping it in there yet? The thought of simply having an engine in my best friend gets me thrilled, but to imagine one built with rollers and headers, that starter etc...wow. nice job. Ed e-mailed me lots of info relating to the swap, he came through big time. Thanks again Ed. He had everything down to the emblems which in the back of my mind I was wondering about. Did you get the same bundle of wisdom prior to your swap?

...starting to feel welcomed around here... You've stumbled upon a mighty fine group of people. --- In all my travels (be they real or electronic) IÆve never encountered anything even remotely equal to the spirit of genuine helpfulness and camaraderie exhibited daily by the members of this community. There are at least 9 or 10 of us located within 2-hours or less of you û the closest of these being in Knox Vegas, Mountain City, Elizabethton (and one thatÆs selling his`Zu in Greeneville). If you can - try to keep an eye on the Trail-Runs and Events Forum here at 4x4Wireà In addition to our 2 or 3 trips to Uwharrie each year - some of us will be getting together notably closer to you, at Callalantee ( a privately owned 4x4 & ATV Park, located right outside of Mountain City), at least a couple times a year. Best of luck with that engine swap!
