Getting the Wheeling Fever
Any suggestions on how to change the oil pan gasket for a 99 tacoma? its leaking a bit. Any helpful suggestions is appreciated.

First just see if the bolts are loose. Fortunately I haven't had to do this myself so I'm not sure the proceedure, but the factory manual is pretty good.

The best advice for actually replacing it would be clean it, clean it, clean it and then clean it again. Wipe all the surfaces with paint thinner to remove all traces of oil then apply a thin layer of RTV to both sides of the gasket. A thick bead means stuck forever, a thin bead only means a good seal.

Our '00 3.4's oil pan gasket started leaking pretty good toward the rear of the pan. that was the 1 thing the crusty toyota warranty covered, i was suprised they did. my '94's 3.0 oil pan gasket... 135K miles... dry:) theres a difference between newer yotas and older yotas.

I used FIPG, no gasket. No problems either!
