2001 SR5 4X4 - sudden check engine light and VSC OFF & VSC TRAC #655492 10/12/05 04:23 AM

Hi. Searching for clues here... hoped someone might have a suggestion. I have an '01 SR5 4x4 w/ approx 87,500 miles. Today check engine light and the VSC OFF and VSC/TRAC lights came on when I started it and stayed on. We've checked fuses. It seems to have less power now. Any suggestions? Heading, reluctantly, to the dealership tomorrow, but thought I'd check here first. Also does this vehicle have a self-diagnostic system? The manual does not include flash codes... my stepfather thinks not. Thanks, in advance, for any help you can lend. Teresa

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Don't panic. Same exact thing happened with my 2001 4Runner and it was a faulty gas cap. Try taking the gas cap off and re-tightening. Wait about 3 days and if the lights are still on, you probably need a new one - about $15. Good luck.
