Body Damage is Cool
Regarding the 22's, I was down in Puerto Rico a few weeks ago, and saw many GenIII's on 18-22" dia wheels with 40-50 series tires. It's amazing how many Monteros there are on the roads there (it's like Jeep Cherokees are here). Lots of base model GenII's with steel wheels and manual everything. I only saw a few GenI's, and they were all LWBs. I was keeping my eyes open hoping to spot the elusive J-top model, but didn't even see a single SWB. Strangely enough, I went to 3 wrecking yards while I was there before I finally found any Monteros. The ones I found were both rollovers, a 94 & 95 LWB that were very picked over. I asked where all the Monteros go when they die, and was told that people keep fixing them because they last so long, so there aren't many around in junkyards.

Need a Spot
Thats pretty cool, finally another GenIII.

UPS just dropped off my OME suspension, and i'm gettin ready to put it on this weekend. Trying to get ready for my Old Mojave Rd. trip in Nov. Barstow to Vegas on dirt.

I have to agree that the stock GenIII is very capable, just need a bit more ground clearance.

Do you have more pics of your rack? I'm looking to get a safari type rack to replace my aluminum Jaos rack. Want to put a rooftop tent up there.

Here is my 2001:

I take it off roading as much as possible. Sadly it is not as much as I would like, work and kids.

Bought the OME kit from rock-road.com can't wait to install it! Gonna need bigger tires to fill i n the extra gap.

Ya we should try to meet up and goto azusa or gorman, maybe sometime early Nov. I'm getting ready to do Old Mojave rd. Nov. 19th. Need to test out the suspension make sure everything is set right.

Sounds good man! Hey...same here ....I have two kids(little girls) and IT job to do.lol Sometimes, I just take them along with me...especially to Gorman and Azusa..those trails are not that challenging.
