Just wanting some input on what you guys with doublecabs think of them. My sister will have her liscence really soon and she's going to be buying my xtra cab off me and I want a little bit bigger of a truck, but I dont wanna fullsize for several reasons. I want to keep the reliabilty of the yota, and the decent gas mileage are the two main reasons, that and I only need a little bit more room. (firefighting equipment takes up the entire back section of the xtra cab ) So I'm looking at an 01-04 doublecab V-6 with the TRD package. What do you guys like about these trucks and what do you guys not like about these trucks? Thanks a ton guys

I have a 04 Double cab 4x4 with the 3.4. the truck is a little small for me, I am 6'3" and 220 lbs. the 4x4 shifter hits me in the right calf. plenty of room for two adults in the back seat, a wee bit hard to get in and out of the back seat if you have large feet. a few other quirks that I will live with because of the outstanding and legendary toyota reliablity and resale value (not that I would sell it). from what I hear Double cabs especially 4x4's are hard to find used and pricey when you do find them.
oh yeah........the bed is small, that is why I use this 1946 Bantam 1/4 ton trailer:

Yea I got a 2004 just like the one you're looking to get. 2004 Dbl. Cab, Auto, V6, TRD Package and as far as room goes not much in the bed but if you're like me and get a bed extender then there's no problem. Lots of room in the back and easily fit 3 people or two extra large ones. I'm a freediver on the weekends and bed holds all my equipment plus spear guns, floats, and equpiment of my other 2 dive partners. Clothes, backpacks, towles, cooler and other stuff in the rear seat area no problems.
I really don't like the 2005 because of the increase in size and weight. More power and bigger size may be an advantage for the 2005 but with the higher gas prices I'm glad I got the 2004 when I did instead of waiting for the 2005. Otherwise I'd get a 2005 but I think the trend is going to go the other way now (smaller, compact, better gas milage) instead of progresive like they are doing now (bigger, more power, larger engines and less efficient on gas). I've been told the RAV4 is going to be redesigned for 2006 by getting bigger and wider with an upgraded and more powerful V6. Hope this helps ya...Aloha

I personally don't have a double cab (though I wish I did). Those that I have talked to love them. Except for one thing. The bed is small. Hope this helps.

Well it seems that everyone I talk to absolutly loves these trucks. And everyone has the same issue with the bed being to small. For me that isnt a big issue since I dont really use my bed for much and if I did need a longer bed my xtra cab will still be in the family along with my dads dakota so we have plenty of bed to go around. BKG is your truck a 4x4 or a Prerunner? Thanks for all your input guys its really made my decision a lot easier but anything else you guys would like to add feel free I'd like all the input I can get

Mine is a 4x4; I wouldn't have it any other way.

The bed is small, that's for sure, but it's been rare for me when I've needed something "bigger." Overall, it's just a darned nice truck. And yes, it's really for sale.

Well its definitly official, I'm going to upgrade to a 4 door taco. I drove my friends today and absolutly loved it. It definitly has that little extra bit of room I'm in need of. But definitly going to have to get used to the orange guages seeing as how mine are green BKG how many miles are on your truck? Is it the color-keyed package were everything is black?
