Howdy Dallas Sadly I have bout quit hunting cept with a camera. I have killed more than my share. On my wall I hava 232 whitetail and a couple of 197 Mulies. I have 6 or 7 other whitetails that would make the book at from 185 to 219.. If you ever get down thisaway you might like to see my trophy room. I betcha I am the only guy you know that has a drophorn mulie in his attic! The old time way of hunting Texas with man against Deer is over with the advent of outdoor feeders. Nowadays my secertary is as good of a hunter as any so-called "hunter"! I have been to Ty Detmers ranch a couple of times this year taking photos. I do have some backstraps in the freezer and have 16 or so deer in the yard right at this minute munching on corn.. But finding a wild place that can be really hunted is very hard to do in Texas any more. Sitting in a wooden blind watching for a deer to come along is not what I have ever done... I am always available to go along and give pointers however. Glad you quit jimbo, Iam no tree hugger myself an to each his own, but i have never seen the sport in it. I guess when you are trained to hunt down man, it will loose its appeal, because man deffinetly shoots back. I've never understood why a man would get out of the bed, a warm bed mind you, an by the way with a warm body laying next to you, an go climb a tree an wait on a deer to come by, Hell if i can hit them with my truck whats the challenge with a gun. I know theres going to be some big bad hunters out there going to give me there big manlly speech, save it as i mentioned above. you wont to prove you a hunter, get you a couple of high dollar paintball guns, take a group friends an find you a patch of woods, put about a mile between yourselves. an see what its like to be shot back at. I always see in the paper every year of the local 6,7,8,an 9 year old with there kill, come on how hard is it. you can take the kiddies along an bag one. An besides as jimbo stated i can step out on the porch an shoot one any time , i enjoy just setting there an watching one of the most beatifull creatures on earth, oh yea whats that verse about animals with a split hoof, must look the other way on that one.

Hey GS, someone had to reply so here it is. I have been hunting deer ect. since I was 12, Im 30 now. There was a time when I didn't find hunting deer sporting, but that was offset by the fact that deer are tasty. To make it sporting, I now stalk them. From dawn to dusk I walk, find tracks and follow them till I can get a clean kill, ie. 1 shot. Where I hunt is not your walk in the woods, as there are huge hills, cliffs, ravienes w/somewhat deep streems, and thickets that a fox would have trouble going through. Then to add to the chalenge, once you get one you've got to get it home, even if that means draging it through the affor mentioned crap. I don't hunt buck. There is nothing about them that intrests me other than the mating rituals of the rut, you can't eat the antlers and old deer don't taste all that good. I grew up on a farm(I still have it though I don't live there), animals were a way of life and I have a deep rooted respect for them as they are a valuable natural resource. I totaly agree on the paint ball thing, though I don't get to play nearly as much as I used to. By the way we sometimes played in the same places I hunt, now thats a chalenge. This is just my 2 cents as I can't relate w/extreme hunters or animal freaks, in fact, I can't stand ether group.

You are a hunter my friend an this post would not apply to you, my statement was for the tree dwellers. I've been know to climb a tree or 2 but for a totaly different reason.I loved to get a better look of the God made country and wildlife and they are less likly to sniff you out in a tree. i do hunt but strictly search, find stalk method it is more fair(actually better odds) to whatever im hunting. Also growing up in a family that barely made ends meet it was a nessesity.I am now married to a (get this) gulp pita supporter. How i dont know but i did and she knew i hunted. The best part is she aint so deep in with pita she understands my background and knows it was nessesary. She even said im still "allowed to go if i wish" but latly i just get a kick out of watching them myself(and who wants to eat jersey deer anyway prolly all tough and rotten like the rest of the inhabitants )
out of all the jeeps in this town the d**n gremlin had to invade mine
I've done so much, with so little for so long i can practicly do anything with nothing

Speaking of deer.... Out where I live they arenÆt legal to kill due to state regs. Not only that but we live in a small canyon area and nobody messes with them so they are free to roam unmolested.... anyways..
There is a beautiful buck with a nice rack and some females running around by our property. For the past couple days when I've been out playing on my bike I have seen him. I normally shut off the engine and just watch him and the little herd move off. Very peaceful, beautiful animals.
