Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hello all as you can see I am new to posting in this forum but i have been checking it out for a while. But now comes the time to post! Its getting kinda chilly here in North Louisiana and this morning on the way to school my daughter turned the heat on in my 1999 Rodeo 2.2 and no heat came out! the floor board is not wet like the core busted so i was wondering if any of you may have any other ideas as to what it may be. Thanks in advance for any help!

Howdy!

ItÆs probably the Heater Fuse û or maybe the Blower Motor itselfà

Even though you donÆt see any signs of leakage, go ahead and remove the Blower Motor. --- You might find that a recent heavy rain has snuck its way past the cowl shroud and into the intake duct - thus drowning the motor and/or blowing the fuse.

With or without the presence of water, a quick test of the motor will let you know if it needs to be replacedà If it passes the test, the problem is almost certainly the fuse (itÆs an easily overlooked rectangular black plastic thingamabob - about 1 inch x 2.5 inches, with a Philips-head mounting screw on each side - located on the heater core housing, immediately to the left of the blower motor). --- IIRC, there are three connection points on the top and bottom of the fuseà if any of them are missing / melted away û BINGO.

Just so you know û the parts stores think mighty highly of replacement Fuses and Blower Motorsà IÆve been running one-of-each for a couple of years now (that I bought at a junkyard) without any problems at all.

So what would the problem be if everytime you turn on the heat it smells like anti-freeze? Seems to work fine but stinky as all get out.

I'd say it's probably a small-ish leak in the heater core.

With a larger leak, at some point you wouldn't just be smelling it; you'd eventually have drops (or even a sizable puddle) of antifreeze in the passenger-side floorboard.

If left unchecked, that small-ish leak could easily turn your Isuzu into a prime candidate for a Herc'd interior.

Thanks for the replies it was the air bubble in the lines, I think because I did what I had read in another post about park it on a hill and let it run with radiator cap off and fill it up. So that is what I did. But I'm definetly going to check into the blockage because i park under a tree every night at home and we did have two hurricanes come through last month! But the blower works fine it was blowing fine so that is fine its just the air coming out wasn't hot at all and now it is and I felt the lines and both lines were hot. Thanks for all the help and suggestions, I'm glad I didn't have to replace that heater core from reading other posts it sounds like a bear!!
