Last weekend I installed a 4.88 rear diff off a 95 4runner on my 87 runner. Im wondering if a front diff off a 95 runner with 4.88s will work on the front. Also is pulling the frontdiff much different then pulling the rear.I want to get 4 wheel drive back before its too cold to do the change outside on the street.

Getting the Wheeling Fever

Yep, will bolt right up. Not exactly as easy as the rear. When I changed out my stockers for 4.88s I didn't have any help. The front diff is heavy and there several mounting points. Get a buddy to lend you a hand for an hour or two. One other thing, press out the 6 studs on each axle tube and grind down the bases before putting the new diff in. It will make the job much easier and the next time you have to swap cv axles you'll be thankful.
