Trouble finding jack stands that can extend to approx. 3.5-4' I want to place them under the frame. I need to work on rear springs and have about 5" of lift. Hoping to make it a little easier and safer to remove the rear axle. Rocker bars and bumpers are no longer on, so hiLift won't work.

No need for that tall a stand, Harbor Freight has some around 30" tall. I use some a little shorter than that. I made a base out of criss-crossed 2x4s the sixe of the jack stand base. 2 boards across and 3 vertical:

Raises them up about 3" and is plenty tall. Also helps keep the stands from sinking into my asphalt driveway.

My rear axle will basically drop to the ground (w/ tires off of course) w/ 5.5" Alcan springs and longer than stock shackles.

For taller stands, you could fab up your own or make a taller base for them.

Thanks! In fact I have the same stands and same sinking problem. An easy and cheap solution.

Body Damage is Cool
Every once in a while the harbor freight 24" jack stands go on sale for $30 (I think it was $30, maybe $20).

If you have to ask about a SAS, you're not ready for it.
