Okay, I'm not sure, but I think I have a head gasket problem. I backed the truck in the garage a week ago to repair the starter contacts and found a little puddle of coolant on the floor the following day. I couldn't find any leaks. It was dripping from the back of the engine on the drivers side. It doesn't appear to be coming from any of the hoses (3.0L). I gunked everything down and drove it around for a few miles. Drives and runs great. Everything was dry last night when I went to bed. The truck sat all day today and now I have what looks like a little green dot of coolant hanging off the engine (drivers side rear where the head meets the block). Is it possible that the gasket is leaking coolant and not getting into the oil or cycliner? I don't suppose I can just tighten the head bolt a little and stop the leak, too easy, right?

Is it time to pull the heads? I had the recall done at 48k and I now have 143k on it.......I'm out of luck, right?

Thanks for your help..........

I've done engine swaps before and heads, but only on chevy's. What am I in for? If I pull the heads, should I have them resurfaced? Valves done? All advice is welcome......

I will check the hoses going to the interior heater, I have the same problem on my 94 Trooper, and no access to it, until intake is removed, so for now I keep an eye on it and keep radiator and overflow plenty of fuild.
Remember that water is almost lazy as us, follows the path of least resistance, the leak may be underneath the manifold (no experience with Toy 3.0)

Thanks, but it's not coming from the firewall or any of the hoses on the back of the engine from what I can see. I'm going to drive it as usual and see how it goes. I don't see any drips on my driveway and I'm not loosing coolant and the oil is clean......We'll see how it goes.....

Thanks again.....

Roll Me Over
Thought I had a coolant leak from the back of mine, turned out it was the on/off valve for the heater that was dripping on the the engine. Only did it when I did not let the engine up to operating temp. Just a thought!!!!!

>>>*There are freeze plugs under the intake at the top of the block, we see moisture collect in them from outside and they can rust through.
If they do it seems to start small as dripping off the rear of the engine....*EB
