Installed my supercharger, now the engine won't start #659289 10/24/05 01:42 PM

I just got my rebuild supercharger back. I installed it on my 97 Runner in reverse order of how I took it off. Now when I turn the key the engine races for a second and then spits and spudders and shuts down. I checked my connections and everything looks ok but I must have done something wrong. Any ideas for me to solve this problem?

Verify the TPS, MAF, and fuel injectors connectors are tight and correct. Verify the harness connectors to the coils on the left bank are tight as well. Reset EFI fuse. Test for spark as well.

Make sure the oil pressure sensor wires as well as the crankshaft position sensor wires did not get bumped.

I went over everything you suggest, except the EFI fuse. How do you reset it? Does it reset automatically since I disconnected and reconnected the battery?

Also I just found that ALL my plugs are fouled out. I replaced them with new and tried to start the engine and the new plugs fouled out.

wow that is a problem. I am guessing that your plugs aren't actually fouling but in fact aren't firing, thus not igniting the fuel. Something ignition wise is not right. Did you hook the ground wire attached to the engine back to the body? (back left).

You may need someone with a ECM computer to run a key on engine off test.

You might give the guys at http://www.urdusa.com/ a call. Gadget should be able to offer some suggestions as well. They are the supercharger experts.

I will think about this one and see if I can come up with anything else.

There have been several late nights in the garage trying to solve this problem. My neighbors probably have a different opinion of me after hearing foul language being shouted. But help is on the way.
Daryl who is on this board and Yotatech, has offered to help, he knows Toyotas well, and I will post the results of what he finds.
What I don't understand is that I installed everthing back the way it originally was. I even took pics of the engine before I began so that I could refer to them.

Long story short. Magnuson sent back my S.C without the EGR cover plate. Not knowing this, I spent more time and money trying to figure out why my truck would not start.
I called Magnuson and they said that they never take the plate off when they do a rebuild.
So I guess that the UPS driver took it off during his lunch break before he dropped it off at my house.
I got Magnuson to send me my plate but I sure wish they would(should)kick in some cash for their mistake.

Wow! Glad to hear you got it fixed! Shame on Mag. They usually have a pretty good reputation.
