Sinece I am one of the unfortunats to ha ve also an OBD1 car. Kia has a scaner that doew not only puls the truble code byt also can remain connected ad give readings through a test drive. Carefull they have 2, one red one yellow ( that is a mode advanced scaner), this is the one. Mind you ONLY kia haw that scanned AFAIK and you can not find it unles you buy it from KIA for big big big bucks round 2.500$ if i remember correctly from the kiatechinfo site when it was free

I just used the jumper wire thing. I keep the wire rolledup in the diagnostic connector housing. Just plug it in and it flashes. One thing that is wrong for the 95 that is shown in the book is the connector. You have to connect it between ground and whta the book says is for the 1.6L engine not the 2.0L engine.

the thing is that I dont have the flaching sequence ( if I got it right what you mean) I didn't have it either until I moved the jumper wire, then it worked. I think all the OBD1s are supposed to do this. You might try it. I can e-mail a picture of the diagnostic plug and what I am talking about.

The "how is done" I know. what the flaches mean I dont know
ex. 3short - 1 long is "this" error <- this I dont have

Having the injectors cleaned fixed mine. I have them flow tested and cleaned. The results were amazing.

ex. 3short - 1 long is "this" error <- this I dont have It should be long flashes followed by short. Example 3 long, then 4 short is code 34, or 9 shorts only means code 9 (the code I was getting for ECT when cold).

It probably has the same thing on it somewhere. You might want to swap it out and see if it helps. It was only 17 bucks at advance auto parts. just looking at the old one and tearing it apart, I would say that its possible for these to get off on the resistance for the correct temp and really screw with the running of the thing. It probably would not even give a code as long as the resistance was between 300 and 15000 ohms the ecm would accept it as valid even if it was wrong. The only thing a code is given for is open or shorted.
