Getting the Wheeling Fever
My fan clutch is shot, so I have a replacement from pep boys (65 bucks... who knows how long it will last, but I'm not shelling out 180 for the OE). I was looking at my fan... it has decent cracks in between the blades. I suppose it's been this way since I got the truck. So the question is do I buy the 82 dollar dealer part, or stick with my old fan? I am guessing this part is dealer only...

I have a brand new 3.0 Mitsubishi fan clutch for sale, I will throw in the fan assembly for no extra $$$. Check out the forsale forum. I would take the factory over the pepboy stuff any day, if you could return the pepboys one.

Body Damage is Cool
If you don't buy the one DougH has then buy a rebuilt from NAPA.
They seem to work OK and are better quality than the discount car parts. They are all recommended to be replaced every 5 years. No one told you that did they?

For the fan blade, see if the auto discount stores have a flex-a-lite replacement blade. I only paid $25 for mine.

Roll Me Over
whatever course of action you take on the purchase of a new fan, make sure you do it. i would hate to see you have to replace a radiator because one of those blades snap of and being launched at that volocity can do serious damage. i had cracks in my yotas fan, didnt replace it... when one came off, it caused a chain reaction (due to the inbalance in the fan) and all but one of the blades had broken off before i could shut her down, which was almost immediatly... that kind of racket really gets your attention. ended up replacing a belt, a couple of wires, coolant overflow canister... and the radiator . thank the wheelin gods for junkyards.
