Getting the Wheeling Fever

My fan clutch is shot, so I have a replacement from pep boys (65 bucks... who knows how long it will last, but I'm not shelling out 180 for the OE). I was looking at my fan... it has decent cracks in between the blades. I suppose it's been this way since I got the truck. So the question is do I buy the 82 dollar dealer part, or stick with my old fan? I am guessing this part is dealer only...

I have a brand new 3.0 Mitsubishi fan clutch for sale, I will throw in the fan assembly for no extra $$$. Check out the forsale forum. I would take the factory over the pepboy stuff any day, if you could return the pepboys one. http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showf...mp;amp;sb=5&o=31&fpart=1

If you don't buy the one DougH has then buy a rebuilt from NAPA. They seem to work OK and are better quality than the discount car parts. They are all recommended to be replaced every 5 years. No one told you that did they? Bob Shaw

For the fan blade, see if the auto discount stores have a flex-a-lite replacement blade. I only paid $25 for mine. Bob Shaw

whatever course of action you take on the purchase of a new fan, make sure you do it. i would hate to see you have to replace a radiator because one of those blades snap of and being launched at that volocity can do serious damage. i had cracks in my yotas fan, didnt replace it... when one came off, it caused a chain reaction (due to the inbalance in the fan) and all but one of the blades had broken off before i could shut her down, which was almost immediatly... that kind of racket really gets your attention. ended up replacing a belt, a couple of wires, coolant overflow canister... and the radiator . thank the wheelin gods for junkyards.
