Anyone ever get scammed by a dealership/garage to clean emission or EGR lines? Is this necessary and where are they on a 2001 Rodeo? Just replaced PCV valve, so I know it's good.
Also, which bolt is loosened on 2001 Rodeo to remove the
serpentine belt?

Plugging EGRs and return lines are very common and can lead to excessive oil burning and a destroyed engine. Sounds like a good maintenance move to me if you are burning oil or getting an EGR CEL. Their approach is certainly better than many dealers who replace the EGR rather than simply cleaning it. That being said it is a relatively easy DIY project.

You don't loosen any bolt to remove the serpentine belt. It is on a tensionser which will deflect allowing the belt to slip off when the bolt is torqued.

Try this for some more info - http://isuzufaq.ibctech.ca/

Yes it's the tensioner, but I can't get the damn thing to move. Does it go up or down!?...I know I don't loosen the bolt holding it on.

Put a socket with a pipe attached at a 45 degree angle to an imaginary line drawn through the pulley and mounting bracket. It should be obvious from looking at it if it should be pushed clockwise or ccw.

The socket should be a 14mm I think. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Then why did you ask this question- "Also, which bolt is loosened on 2001 Rodeo to remove the
serpentine belt?" <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />

In any event the answer was in the link I originally posted. Since you didn't look it up yourself I did that for you too. "use a socket wrench on the 14mm nut in the center of the tensioner pulley and both try to tighten it more while at the same time pushing str8 down on the wrench. This moved the tensioner down easily".
