i was on the phone with tap auto recycling and they wanted 450 bux for an 8" 4.88 diff. i always hear stories about people picking them up cheaper. what other resources do you use to find diffs?

Also, tell them to COUNT THE TEETH before they ship,
39 teeth ring gear. 8 teeth on the pinion gear.

Emm...you don't wanna deal with TAP anymore than you do with NWOR.

Why not buy the the R&P setup you want, pull the diffs, and have a local shop set them up for you? If you can't find a local shop, ask around the 4x4 clubs and get some recommendations.

Up here I can get a rework for 3-400 bucks, and that's without the shipping hassle. You might look a little more into that route.

avoid TAP like the plague!!!
my advice is to find a large salvage company with several yards all over the country...
i got mine from some company in NY, diffs were within the company from NE, save on shipping, avoid northeast parts.

just make sure they count the teeth, and make sure they are a front and a rear! you'd be surprised how stupid people are..
