Hey, any of you gearheads out there have an opinion on bushwackers trail armor for TJs? Bushwacker trail armor page

I'm not so sure about their method of putting it on the car - 3M double sided tape...sounds kinda sketchy but seeing as how i don't do much rock crawling, i really don't see a need for the 10 gauge steel corners, drilling and riveting, and all that junk...

let me know what you guys think

Do you want it just for the looks? It might stop rocks being flung from the wheels from doing damage, and very light scraps against obsticles. If it were me, I'd pass and spend the money on tires or shocks.

i find that stuff to devalue a jeep. that stuff is for after it's rusted out or damaged beyond reason.

Yep! diamond plate corners and rocker guards are good for us in the "rusted out beyond reason and can't afford a new body" crowd. I've got some shiny plate in the garage waiting to be installed. I've been thinking though, how hard is it to paint the shiny stuff? Either black or to match the body?

sand it down and it should be just like any old surface unless it already doesnt have any type of sealer on it, then just paint away

putting all that stuff on a jeep is kind of like putting curve feelers on it, you know what i mean, how ever i do like the rock guards, but i get my local steel shop to shear an break my diamond plate for about a 1/3 of what these guys charge, a lot of people forget about there local shops when doing stuff like this, saves major bucks. Just cut them a little long hang them up there an trace around wheel wales, trim with a jigsaw ( jigsaw will cut up to a 1/4 plate with steel cutting blades) an you have got a nice set of guards for a fraction of the cost. Matter of fact they can roll corners also.
