An what a difference it makes over the jerry rig that came with the truck. I went to the local muffler shop and had him copy the head pipe using 2.5" aluminized tubing. Then I cut the flange off as close to the top as possible and had him expand the end so it fit snug inside the 2.5.. I welded the head pipe up and then added a flowmaster that was laying around my garage for too long. I picked up some scraps the guy had laying around the muffler shop and it turns out one worked perfect for a tail pipe. So my grand total for about 14 ft of tubing, clamps and hangers came out ot be $18. It might not be the perfect setup for a turbo but for the price it good enough. It't not pinning my head against the seat but it works alot better the the old exhaust. The old system was a combo of 4 different diameters of rusted tubing, shotty welds, 10 clamps, ridiculous hangers, and a worn out cat and glasspack painted day glow orange.

Oh, man. A hunt-season-compliant glasspack. Gee, I think you downgraded!

Big improvement...but that was painfully obvious if you saw the old exhaust system. For some reason half the stuff under the truck is painted day glow orange. So a $.99 can of black we'll make me feel a little better about myself when driving down the road. As far as performance...the motor runs smoother and spools up quicker. I didn't notice any real noise increase either. It's not a ten second car or anything but it the fastest toyota truck I've ever driven. What do you want for less than a $1000 for the total project including the cost of the truck? I have new wires, a cap and rotor on the way so after that hopefully it will be good to go.
By the head pipe I mean the one from the manifold to where the cat was suppose to go. The exhaust guy new that I was trying to do away with the cat so he wouldn't make the pipe any bigger than the one I brought in. So I bought a 3ft section a pipe and told him that it would be used for the tailpipe. He just shook his head b/c he new what I was up to. No more cat...the pipe is pretty much straight all the way to the muffler.
