Repower with A2300T Cummins?. 2.3L turbo. One Company does fit kits http://www.powerupfit.com/html/products.php?id=productsMy 86 Trooper C223T does ok but after 225k miles, It leaves enough smoke behind upon acceleration that it isn't making any converts for passenger diesels. Fine on the open road though. I dream about a new engine, not a rebuilt.

Finally received an email back from the powerupfit website which repowers old military vehicles for shipment to foreign countries. They don't do Isuzu vehicles, but recommend buying used diesel engines from Japan. The Cummins turbo sounds like it might be a reasonable replacement for the C223T, but fitting it to the Trooper bell housing/tranny/transfer case would probably take some specialized fabrication. I originally saw it on an ebay auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cumm...iewItemQQcategoryZ46098QQitemZ8015013423Sae #4 flywheel with 10 inch over center clutch.?
