Getting the Wheeling Fever

Is it possible to wire in a switch on a 2000 limited center locking differential like the one on the 2001 and 2002? And if it is; would the 4 runner still have power to the front wheels when shifted into H4L and L4L with the switch off? Would it act like a transfercase without the center locking diff? (Like the ones on the SR5)
