Was looking in the papers today and saw a 1990 Hilux Surf for only $2,800 CAN. It's 5 spd. w/ the 2.4L turbo-diesel. Only problem is, the engine is toast (guy says the timing belt broke while he was driving, and there's also a hole in the block). I'm going to look at it tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get some more details then.

I'm just wondering what parts availability are like for these things. I'm seeing more and more of them here in Canada, but am not sure if I'd be getting in too deep trying to get engine parts for it (i.e. a block, maybe a head, etc...).

I've already built myself a 22R for my trail rig, and would be up for the challenge of building a turbo diesel! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
