Oil warning light doesn't light up when ignightion is on, idles fine - rev it and it lights up.... Strangely - rev it, lights up - hold the revs at any speed and it goes out again! (Only comes on when revs are going up! - if it was the pump or lack of presure (Big ends or something) I'd expect low presure until reving!) Oil presure sender? - votes please.... That could cause the erratic function.
