Getting the Wheeling Fever
My battery died and the stock radio unit locked on me. The anti-theft device locked me out. The face on the unit says "help". This is on a '95 runner. Anyone know how to unlock it? Thanks.

You might need an unlock code...You can try the dealer or it might be in your service manual.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Thanks for the replies. Yes I do need a code. At first the face said "sec" and my brother in law (previous owner) thought he knew the code and tried. Apparently, you only have a certain number of tries, after he tried a couple of times the face changed to "help". Service manual explains how to get to the "sec" screen, but now that its on the "help" screen everything seems locked. Tried the dealer, they wanted fifty something bucks to look at it plus hold the car for half the day. I didn't want to do that, but the guy working was nice enough to look it up in their computer and gave me a number code to punch in. Got into the truck and started punching the numbered preset keys on the radio. Preset keys go to six and there are a couple of 8s in the code he gave me so I'm still stuck. Thats where I'm at now. Any more suggestions??? Thanks.

There are a few unlock code websites that can help. This is one http://www.radio-code.com/home.html
May be a great time to put a new stereo on the holiday list <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
