I'm getting ready to ditch the Olympia front bumper that I have for a DIY. Anyone have any pics as to how some of the aftermarket are mounting theirs? Mine will be fairly close to the style of Advanced frameworks and Hansen Enterprises if that helps.

I Don't know that comp design but it should go right int he stock location just like your olymp, Ie to the frame rails and the crossmember , via some tabs welded to the bumper

build it so it mounts like the stock bumper mounts, just use 3/16" steel.

Zubi, after looking at the fine job that you did on your rear bumper why would you have any questions as to how to build the front bumper. Just do like Dan-H said and get it done!!!

Post some pics of the front bumper when it is done. I may have to hire you to build me a nice set of everything. I saw some similar rocker guards to the ones you made, I think they were going for $4?? so you made out well doing it yourself like you said rather than paying over $400 <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

I'm just not sure of utilizing just the stock mounts for something that has a 9,500 lbs sheer potential. Actually 19,000 lb sheer potential when I' in a "snatch block" scenario.

The stock mount is three (3) 1/2 inch bolts per frame rail.

I don't have my engineering notebook handy, but IIRC, the rating of one (1) 1/2 inch grade 5 bolt in single shear is over 10K lbs, and one (1) 1/2 inch grade 8 bolt in single shear is over 12K lbs.

12K x 6 = 72K lbs if you can evenly distribute the load. across both frame rails before the bolts fail.

If the pull you are talking about is from a winch, look closely at the small bolts that warn supplies with their 9500 lb winches. and they are only grade 5.
