just a quick question on my 4runner. Just found a 2cm crack in the fron axle passengers side sub frame next to the fixed mounting bracket. would the best option be to weld it or replace??

also im having problems with a constant grinding noise everytime I turn left or right, anyone know what could cause this and how to fix?? first thought the joints needed replacing but it seems they r ok..

"Can't really help you with the first problem, esp. without a pic. Not exactly sure what part you're speaking of. Plus I'm inexperienced in welding.

Is the grinding when the steering is at full lock or constant. Which side grinds when you turn (ie. inside or outside)?

If it's only at full lock it's because there are plastic steering stop caps on the knuckle that wear out and cause a grinding noise to occur. Some thick grease or new caps will remedy this.

If the noise is constant when turning and on the outside, then your wheel bearings would be the first thing that I would check as they would be the most likely culprit in this case. "

cheers thanx for your help. was able to weld the crack and the stoppers had fully worn down, just trying to find some new ones now.
