Hey all.
I have a 78 CJ I have wheeled for a while. No complaints, except not enough room,(since being domesticated ie. wife, 2 dogs and the threat of a little Hulsey). The wife says "I can just look" I am looking into full size, 2 door Cherokee. Are some year models better than others? I have seen "wide track" thrown around, what years? Any good sites to visit for info. Thanks.

are you going to be satisfied with a uni body? have you considered a framed full size or a little trailer for the dogs? the new explorers are ifs all around if it's a soft ride you're looking for, but i like a full frame and solid axles myself. lotts of stuff to get a jack under!

Do you mean Wagoneer or Cherokee?

I do like the CherokeeÆs myself. They are light, good for medium to light duty offroading, cheap and easy to get parts for, and don't get too bad a gas mileage with the 4.0.

The WagoneerÆs are also really cool, almost classics. They can be had with big V-8's and are easy to modify.

Which did you mean? What type of offroading do you enjoy?

Don't want to own a vehicle younger than you?
The FSJ's of that era were pretty big. What type of trails do you do? Like someone suggested, a trailer behind the CJ might do the trick if you like trails that would be too small for a FSJ. Let us know where or what type of wheeling you do and we'll be more help

FSJs rock, and you're gonna love it! My first vehicle was a '72 Wagoneer. I currently have an '88, so I don't know as much about the older FSJs. Check out IFSJA.org, or subscribe to the Yahoo group [FSJ-List]. FSJ-List is a really helpful bunch of guys, and they've helped me a lot.

I *think* (though it's very confusing) that the early Wagoneers were four-door, while the early Cherokees were two doors. The wide-track thing totally confuses me. Perhaps all Cherokees were wide-track? Only the Cherokee Chiefs? IFSJA isn't much help here, but the FSJ-List guys would know for sure. There's *gotta* be a FAQ somewhere!

The rig will be used for trailriding and camping. I am currently restoring a 42 MBT trailer for camping gear behind the CJ. The CJ is really just for me, the wife does'nt like where it likes to go! I just love the looks and practicallity of a full size rig. I am not much on an automatic offroad, so that would have to go. Otherwise I guess all jeep full sizes are about the same. Does anyone know of one within 300 miles of north GA? I am not looking for a perfect one, just one with little rust. Thanks All.
