Hi from Norway

Maybe I should have posted this on another place????

Just got this vehicle

http://www.offroad.no/?Page=Rig&Mode=View&RID=1648

When I tried to find some info on it,with the help from this link:
http://www.analogx.com/contents/vinview.htm
this was what showed up:

Description Position Raw Data Decoded Data
Region: 1 1 North America
Country: 1-2 1G U.S.A.
Manufacturer: 2-3 GN Chevrolet
[color:"red"]Model Specific: 4-8 GK26F Unknown
[/color]
Check Digit: 9 2 Valid
Year: 10 R 1994
Assembly Plant: 11 J J
Serial Number: 12-17 372566 372566

Why does it says "unknown" on the line: Model Specific
Is it because it it was exported, a Starcraft model or what?
Does anyone know....

Thanks

If you PM me with your VIN number (or just the last 8 digits) I can run a report on it and let you know what I find.

Sent one back to ya. If you need more, let me know. I may be able to get the VIN decoder from one of the guys at work or maybe find mine in my toolbox <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Speaking of VIN numbers, is there a way of telling what axle gears you have and just all around info on your vehicle?

Yes. Somewhere on your GM vehicle there is (unless it has been removed) a sticker with a whole bunch of letter and number combinations. Each 3 digit code is called an RPO code (RPO=Regular Production Option). If you write down all of those codes and get on the internet you should be able to find a website with RPO code information.

I can't be responsible for the accuracy of that information. It is after all, the internet <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the advice, but do Nissan's have the same numbers? I know this isnt a Nissan forum, but it sounds like you know your stuff. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

I know very little about Nissans. I am a tech at a GM dealership, and therefore know a lot about GM vehicles. Each manufacturer does things a little differently. Your best bet for Nissan information would be your local Nissan dealer. They can at least point you in the right direction if not provide the answers you are looking for.
