Getting the Wheeling Fever

Here is the story; I shattered my rear window while trying to instal it on the jeep(BY MYSELF! )In the process of cleaning up, I accidently threw away the liftgate support brackets. I am looking for the brackets that go through the window on a 98 jeep wrangler (hardtop) rear window. Does anyone know where I can get these? Besides the dealer. I have checked there and they are $$$$$ I have also checked out a couple of local yards, but they have nothing.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Go out to Fort Fisher with a clam rake and start looking in the sand for a sunken Jeep that just might have your parts....
Okay, for reality, you might not find the cheap end of what you are looking for.... Go to 4x4.com for "4WD Hardware"'s site, then to quadratec.com (think thats spelled right) or acme.com and check out their truck side.... there are tons of other sites, these are just the ones that I use regularly.... you can also look on eBay.com....
I've seen all the parts you would need for a white trash repair job at Lowes or Home Depot.... You just need to be creative....
Jeeps (CJ or YJ or TJ) aren't normally found in "junk yards" or salvage yards.... You would have to go to a Jeep graveyard to find parts.... The closest one to you is WAY down 17 closer to Florida or West to North Augusta, SC....
So, hope this helps.... You broke it, be careful next time and take that top off before you start slamming things around....

Been looking all over Ft. Fisher, havent found anything
I have tried quadratec and a few other sites, but hvent found the parts I need yet. Thenks for the info and sites to check out. I will definately go there before I resort to going to the dealer.
I can't believe that the jeep wrangler is the only vehicle these were used on. There has to be another car/truck/minivan out there out there that use the same parts.
I broke it! Now I have to pay the price for it. Good thing I have a soft top for it
Thaks again for youre help

Howdy Seaflea I had a good friend that lived and died in your town.. Just seeing Wilmington written down brought back some memories.. There is a trick to finding unusual parts. It is a new trick and I think I invented it. Here it is, DO IT!
Get on eBay and everyone that has a jeep part for sale send them ALL the same question.. You can copy and past it from one mailing to the next.. Say: I have lost the small brackets that hold the back window up when it is open.. Do you have them or know someone that might?
Or something near that. Keep it short! It will surprise you how many replies you get! ONE of these guys will have a wrecked top that is useless and the brackets will still be there.. I betcha you can find them thataway..
Don't feel too bad about what you did. We all do silly things once in a while. Once while cleaning shop I threw away a small cardboard box containing main caps.. A few weeks later I went to work on a block and discovered it had no caps on it... Slowly it came back to me that I had purchased that particular block with the caps in a cardboard box... That is when I pulled out the first 1/2 of my hair.. Big Jim

I'll be moving back to DELMARVA soon and will be hitting the area that you are in more often, but eBay will be your best option first, then the traditional sites like Q-tech, 4x4.com or any of the others. Try Pep boys or the local shops too.... In time you will find what you are looking for. Good luck!!!!!
