I bought my truck new in 98 and my 2 biggest complaints have been both the AC unit and Seat Belts. Just yesterday I took the truck for the recall (steering rod) and mentioned the seat belts. I was told they wear out and needed to buy new....yeah right, seat belts should "must" be warranty for life...just like Hondas.

The front passenger seat belt on my 1998 T100 was stuck, it would not pull out or retract. My dealer ordered a new one and replaced the whole assembly for free when he replaced the recalled steering relay rod.

I just bought my T100 and it also has seat belt issues (driver & passenger recoils and latches). Called Toyota Corp and they said if the dealer doesn't flip the bill Toyota will, so either way its free to me.
By the way, first post.

I called 800-331-4331 and chose option 5. http://www.toyota.com/about/contact/index.html?s_van=GM_TN_CONTACT Update: Little misunderstanding. I just found out that i would have to pay for labor to install the seat belts. $86 per side, not that bad. so we'll see if i'll do it myself or not. i wouldn't think it would be that difficult. any input?

It's not that difficult at all... a little PITA to get behind the interior plastic, but easily done in an afternoon by someone who's never been in there before.

About how many of those little plastic pop in fastener gizmos should you count on losing or breaking?

urso8up : Seatbelts should be covered under warrenty for up to 100k miles. If you are over 100k, than you can try to get Toyota to make a case number for you, and if the first guy doesn't make one for you, than call back and talk to someone else. Give that number to a Toyota dealership and it would be up to them if they want to help you out or not. If that dealership says no, than try another one. I have ~130k on my T.
